Code of Conduct

This code of conduct applies to those who are participating in the Eternal Truth Ministry (ETM) communications in any form. This includes the Discord server (text and voice), YouTube videos, YouTube comments, and with the written articles on the website. This Code of Conduct also applies any time an individual is representing the ministry in some way.

Biblical Topics

The primary focus of the ministry is to build disciples using the tools of the internet. The most important means of building disciples is through scripture. Which means talking about scripture and Biblical topics is a primary purpose of the chat.

Bible First

If there are ever times when Biblical topics and other topics are overriding each other in #general, the non-Biblical topic should be taken to the #off-topic channel.

False Teachings

ETM will not be a platform that allows false teachings to be taught. Any teaching that goes against our Statement of Beliefs will not allowed to be taught. They can be discussed, from people talking about the different points or why it is not Biblical, but users will not be allowed to come in and teach or try to convert any of the members to their false doctrines.

Calling Out False Teachers

Calling out false teachers is not going to be a main part of the ministry. It is our belief that the best way to keep someone from following a counterfeit is to make them fully submerged in the truth so they can detect the false teachings on their own. However, part of building up and protecting disciples is to warn of those that might lead someone to a false teacher.

Calling out false teachers can only be done if from an attitude of caution and love. The purpose is to warn the person, not to bash a teacher or bash a church or to insult those that you disagree with. Approaching the topic with this manner is not allowed.

Also a person that seems to only be focused on trying to call out various false teachers will be asked to stop. This is not the primary purpose of our ministry. We would rather build up disciples with the truth than spend our effort tearing others down, no matter how wrong they may be.

Doctrinal Differences

We understand that there are people in here from multiple different denominations with different doctrinal differences. We understand that there are a lot of deeply rooted feelings involved with these beliefs, and we want to allow for discussions about those doctrinal differences, but we do not want these discussions to cause divisions among believers.

For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. – 1 Corinthians 2:2

The most important thing about what brings us together as believers, is Jesus Christ. Our faith, and our salvation rests in him. He is the foundation that we all have in common.

When discussions about doctrinal differences get too heated, remember that everything comes back to Christ. Discussions that get too heated need to stop. But as long as the conversation isn’t getting too heated then it can continue.

Those involved in the discussion and the moderators in the channel are responsible for making sure the conversation stays civil.

Doctrinal differences do not matter to our salvation and ultimately are not worth division. Doctrinal discussions that include arguments such as “you are not saved if you don’t believe in XXX” will not be allowed if they go against the ETM Statement of Beliefs.

Remember, unity does not mean uniformity. We can be united in trying to seek Christ without agreeing on every point of every doctrinal issue.

Love One Another

James 4:11-12 Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?

Titus 3:12 To speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people.

Inappropriate Conversations

Swearing is never allowed in any of the channels on the server, or in any ETM related communication. This includes the use of acronyms that have a common usage of being a replacement for a swear word.

Crude Talk

Discussions that are deemed appropriate for all ages will be asked to stop the discussion, or move it to the #adult-topics channel, which access is only granted when requested.

Names & Avatars

Names or avatars (images) that are considered inappropriate (i.e. using curse words, or revealing images) will be asked to change the offending name or avatar. If the change is not made within a reasonable time then the user will be removed from the server.

Spamming and Annoying Tactics

The use of images in the chat server is allowed, as long as it is related to the conversation at hand. Spamming images by posting multiple images in a row is not allowed. That becomes a disruption of the conversation as none of the conversation can be seen, only the images.

Moderation Procedures

Deleting Messages

The only time a message is deleted is if content is posted that is not allowed in our family-friendly environment. Things like pornography or cursing will likely be deleted, and the person posting those messages will likely be kicked. But messages will not be deleted because they disagree with our statement of beliefs or because we do not agree with what is being said.

We may ask the original poster to delete their own messages if they are too close to the line of being inappropriate.
