Is Daily Bible Time Really Important?

Join us for online fellowship and discipleship making

Today’s topic is on the importance of spending time daily with God. It is not enough to listen to sermons and podcasts that all talk about God. Those are good things and expand our knowledge of God, but like going to a friend’s house and discussing how great your spouse is, but not actually spending time with your spouse will not make for a great relationship with that person, so it is with God. If all you do is listen to people talking about God, telling you about their relationship with Him, then you will know a lot about God, but won’t know Him yourself.

James 4:8 says “Come near to God and he will come near to you.”

Psalm 1:1a, 1:2 says “Blessed is the man …. whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.”

In fact, even Jesus had to have this daily time with God.

Matthew 14:23 “After he had dismissed them, he went up to the mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone.”

Mark 1:35 “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”

If it is important for Jesus to spend time alone with God daily, how much more so should it be important for us?

If you want to be a disciple of Jesus, you will have to make reading the Bible, praying, and meditating on His word a part of your daily life.

Eternal Truth Ministry’s mission is to make disciples of Jesus through sharing Biblically centered content online, and through fellowship with an online community of believers and seekers of God’s truth.
